Culture and History

Beginning as a small farming village in the early 1800’s, the Town of Aurora has done a wonderful job of preserving some of its heritage and history. There are still signs of the 1800’s village most notably some of the original houses, the Trinity Anglican Church, The Aurora Armoury and the Aurora Town Park all of which are still used today. Aurora Town Park now hosts farmer’s markets with fresh products, summer concerts featuring local talents, and special events such as Canada Day celebrations and Christmas Markets. The Aurora Armoury is now home to Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute and regularly host tasting dinners, cater events and offer culinary classes.
